The purpose of the Skills at Home Challenge Series is to promote
the development and practice of skills to youth in the NWT.

Our goal is to provide some fun and engaging activities for students from across the Northwest Territories to participate in from home.

upcoming challenge

build a LEGO car that rolls the farthest!

deadline: december 4th, 2022
 

THE LEGO CHALLENGE

This challenge can be as simple or as difficult as you wish to make it. It will require participants to build a car out of LEGO pieces and submit a short video of the car in motion (showing how far the car can roll off a ramp) to Skills Canada NWT online. Participants may use a kit or come up with a design on their own! 

 

CHALLENGE CRITERIA

Build a LEGO car that rolls the farthest after going down a ramp of your choice!

Participants can submit up to THREE videos of their car in motion.

All videos submitted must be captured during the two weeks of the challenge.

The use of batteries is NOT permitted and the car must be on a level surface.

The distance measured starts where the ramp ends!

 

AGE

  • There is no minimum age to participate in this challenge.

  • Participants must be under 18 years of age.

 

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

All videos submitted for this challenge must be taken during the two weeks of the challenge. The videos must show the ‘car’ in motion.

File names for all submitted videos must be in the following format:

CompetitorFirstName_CompetitorLastName_Video#.mov
(i.e, Jane_Smith_Video1.mov, or Jane_Smith_Video2.mov, etc.)

All videos must be submitted in .mov or .mp4 file format.

 

VIDEO CONTENT

Participants are asked to refrain from using any inappropriate content in their submissions. 

 

SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Sunday, December 4th, 2022 at 5:00pm Mountain Time.

 

CONTEST PRIZE

The winner will receive a $50 Visa card.
The prize will be sent to the winner and is non transferable.
